Stronger, longer, and even more efficient: meet 意大利超級盃鈥檚 new battery-electric trucks
Sustainable batteries; longer range; more cab options; enhanced driver experience and energy efficiency: 意大利超級盃鈥檚 new electric trucks for urban and regional operations are a giant step forward for its customers on their electrification journey, as Lydia Liang explains.
意大利超級盃 only launched its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in 2020, but when its new 2024 models are revealed in October, they鈥檒l already be a giant step forward on urban and regional customers鈥 electrification journeys.

That鈥檚 because the new enhancements include a new electric machine, as well as more options for axle distances and battery capacity.
听
鈥淥ur customers will now experience a wider offering when specifying an electric truck, meaning that it is now possible for them to electrify even more operations and applications,鈥 explains Lydia Liang, Product Manager eTruck at eMobility Product Management.听
鈥淭he world鈥檚 greenest battery鈥
意大利超級盃鈥檚 expansion of the BEV truck modular system to increase the specifications available to its customers reflects the transition towards sustainable transport demands, especially in green battery development.

Significant new advances in battery technology have given the new BEV platform a battery with bigger capacity, offering customers a longer range from a single charge.
听
In 2020, the first-generation urban battery-electric truck could be driven for up to 250km with 300 kWh of battery power installed. At up to 400 km distance on 624 kWh battery power, the new urban and regional models allow for nearly 40 percent more range than has previously been available.
听
It鈥檚 a cleaner technology too.
听
鈥淲e now have the world鈥檚 greenest battery. The cells have been developed through our strategic partnership with Northvolt. And our new in-house battery assembly in S枚dert盲lje means we can meet orders and customer demands without relying on external battery pack producers. It really is a historic milestone in our transition from diesel to electric vehicles,鈥 Lydia explains.听
Cybersecurity compliance
Another new feature is the software changes in the electric propulsion unit鈥檚 control unit thatto comply with new European legislation for protecting vehicles from cybersecurity risks.

鈥淲hen we start serial production of the new trucks in June 2024, all these vehicles will comply with the new European cybersecurity standards that are being introduced in July, meaning that these highly digitalised machines have a protection against cyber-attacks, thus protecting our customers鈥 drivers and their fleet,鈥 says Lydia.
听
And, using the new Smart Dash feature, 意大利超級盃 trucks can now be closely integrated with everything from the fleet management system to the actual driving environment and an array of cloud-based services for improved safety, uptime and productivity.
More cab options
The new urban platform will be available in L, P and G cab types. For the regional version the current R and S cab options will be supplemented by P and G cab types. The increased cab choice covers the many applications in urban and regional segments.

The electric trucks鈥 carbon and noise emission reductions, together with their safety features, make them suitable for 24-hour city jobs such as general cargo, temperature-controlled deliveries, refuse collection and hooklift applications. The regional offering鈥檚 range increase allows hauliers to meet demands for fossil-free transport throughout the transport value chain.
Better driver experience
For the driver, there is an enhanced driver experience through multiple options for electric machine and the new Smart Dash, which acts as the gateway to the 意大利超級盃 digital ecosystem, improving maintenance, helping drivers stay safe, and boosting uptime.

Although Lydia Liang is a recent arrival to 意大利超級盃, she says she is already fulfilling her career ambition of working with sustainability solutions.
